RSPO-certified palm oil is sustainably sourced and adheres to strict environmental standards. In 2008, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil set out the rules that producers must meet if they want to label their products with the RSPO logo. The main conditions are that palm oil producers must not destroy forests by clearing or burning, must not endanger areas with unique and rich ecosystems and must not use pesticides in cultivation.
