Organic Food Chain Australia
The Australian Organic Food Chain (OFC) has been granted approved organic certification status by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment under the Export Control (Organic Product Certification) Order.
The central idea of organic production systems is to direct agricultural work to improve soil properties so that plants and animals are challenged primarily by natural nutrients, not water-soluble substances. OFC-certified products must not contain:
- GMOS
- synthetic additives
- chemical insecticides, herbicides or fungicides
What's more, they must not be treated with ionising radiation. They must not interfere with natural processes in livestock and plants and their production must not involve nanotechnology.
