PETA
PETA (The Society for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is a respected animal rights non-profit organisation from the USA. Its work focuses on four areas where animal abuse is most common: agriculture and industry, research laboratories, and the clothing and entertainment industries. She uses petitions and campaigns to fight against animal abuse and to change laws.
PETA was founded in the USA in the early 1980s and has since carried out awareness-raising campaigns to highlight and eliminate unethical treatment of animals. It encourages the public to convert to vegetarianism or veganism and to respect animal rights. PETA relies on the support of celebrities and volunteers, among others, to achieve its campaigning objectives. Visit http://www.peta.org/international/ for more information.
