ICEA

The ICEA, based in Italy, is responsible for monitoring and certifying companies whose labour and business activities are carried out with respect for human rights, labour dignity and the protection of nature. The organisation is one of the leading institutions of its kind in Europe and Italy and is committed to promoting social and sustainable development in the field of organic farming.

The ICEA (Instituto per la Certificazione Etich e Ambientale) is mainly known for its certifications in the food industry, but also offers certifications for the production of organic cosmetics, cleaning products, organic textiles, furniture and much more. Together with manufacturers and the AIAB (Association for Organic Agriculture in Italy), ICEA has set out parameters for the evaluation of natural and organic cosmetics.

Strict criteria must be met to obtain ICEA certification. These include, for example, production without the use of artificial ingredients and genetic modification. Strict standards for waste production, emissions and energy consumption are also introduced. The production and storage process must comply with environmental standards. Complete documentation is also a matter of course, from the purchase of raw materials, their processing and storage to final delivery to the customer. The production site is regularly inspected by ICEA throughout the year.
