Cruelty free certification is provided by PETA and ensures that neither the product nor its ingredients have been tested on any animal species. Cruelty free is a certification suitable for all conscious customers who choose not to buy cosmetics that cause suffering to the most innocent members of our society. PETA awards this certification to products from the USA. As with other certifications, this one is made available to cosmetic companies on a voluntary basis and guarantees that neither the finished product nor the ingredients have been tested on animals. Additionally, this certificate is featured in the Cruelty Free Vegan option. Cosmetics bearing this certificate must not only not have been tested on animals, but must also not contain live materials of animal origin (e.g. beeswax, lanolin, carmine, etc.).
