Usage:

Every dishwasher is equipped with a built-in ion exchanger that captures ions causing water hardness, namely calcium and magnesium, and delivers soft water to the dishwasher. This helps prevent calcium deposits on glasses and cutlery. When the ion exchanger is saturated with calcium and magnesium ions, its absorption capacity must be regenerated. Regenerating salt is used for this purpose, ensuring the exchange of hardness ions and thus providing optimal washing results.

Regenerating salt is pure, crystallized table salt, without anti-caking agents, synthetic dyes, or other additives.

Origin and Properties of Individual Components:

Salt is mined from salt mines, dissolved in water, and allowed to crystallize as coarse-grained salt, thereby removing impurities. As a concentrated solution in the dishwasher's salt reservoir, it ensures the exchange of bound calcium and magnesium ions for sodium ions from the regenerating salt; the ion exchanger can then supply soft water again.

Biodegradability:

Table salt is a natural component of our waters. Although table salt is mineral in nature and does not need further breakdown, it contributes—albeit relatively little—to the increased salt burden in our water. For medium water hardness, about 40 - 50 g of salt enters the wastewater per wash.
