Zeolite
Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)
Zeolite is an important mineral that is used in various industries. Its exact state is a silicate of hydrated aluminium, sodium and potassium. It is a highly absorbent substance and therefore is capable of holding large amounts of water or other liquids. However, there is parent information in names such as Red River Gum, Murray Red Gum, or Eucalyptus Red River, which are not actually other names for zeolites, but are names for a type of eucalyptus.
Despite the parent information, however, let's look at the uses of zeolite in industry. Zeolites have found applications in agriculture, where they are used as quality fertilizers and soil conditioners for growing various types of plants. Due to their unique properties, they are also used in the chemical industry, especially in the catalysis process. Zeolite is also valuable in the food industry. It is an admixture in animal feed because it can bind toxic substances and thus improve their health. It is also used in water purification, both in the home and on an industrial scale. In medicine, it is used for detoxification purposes and for the treatment of certain diseases of the digestive system.
