Isoeugenol

Isoeugenol is an organic compound with the formula C10H12O2, other names for this agent are 2-methoxy-4-(1-propenyl)-phenol. This substance can be found in fragrant essential oils such as hyssop, bitter orange or cinnamon. It is also one of the constituents of clove oil. It has a strong spicy, floral, woody and smoky aroma with a hint of vanilla and has important applications especially in perfumery. Isoeugenol is light yellow in colour and is a liquid with a boiling point of around 265 °C.
As an aromatic element, isoeugenol is often used in a wide range of personal care products such as perfumes, soaps, shampoos or deodorants. It is also used in some food products to give them a certain taste or smell. In addition, isoeugenol also has applications in dentistry. It is used as an ingredient in some fillings and also as an antiseptic. Despite its wide use, however, it has been shown that with prolonged and intense contact, isoeugenol can cause allergic reactions and can be potentially toxic.
