Drinking water, why it's really important
You've probably heard about drinking. Keeping up a drinking regime is important not only to prevent dehydration. Why is drinking enough really important?
Drinking water in the body
The body's drinking water consists of:
- 85% of the blood
- 75% muscle
- 22% of bone
What else is drinking related to?
Not only is it an essential part of the body, but it also has other functions:
- Hydrates oxygen for breathing
- Helps convert food into energy
- Helps the body absorb nutrients
- Important for proper absorption of water-soluble vitamins
- Removes waste from the body
How to ensure adequate drinking
For many, drinking enough is a nut to crack.
How to ensure a sufficient drinking regime? Keep a water bottle with you at all times. Try to drink at least 1 to 2 litres of water a day. You can flavour your water with citrus fruits or herbs to improve the taste.
