Luffas are derived from the fruits of the plant Luffa cylindrica, also known as cylindrical or Egyptian loofah. It is said that even Cleopatra knew that this gourd could be easily turned into a first-class cosmetic tool, in addition to making a tasty salad.

The mature, cucumber-like fruits need only to be peeled, soaked in water, and left to let the seeds and soft pulp float away. What remains are sturdy fibers, which, once dried and cleaned, transform into natural sponges, loofahs, and other useful items.

Dry loofah is firm and rough, but once soaked in warm water, it softens quickly and expands in volume. This transformation makes it wonderful for massaging sore muscles, preventing cellulite, and gently caring for facial skin.

It stimulates blood circulation, smooths, and softens the skin.

It replaces plastic massage sponges and loofahs.

Uses

• cosmetic pad (facial peeling)
• for massages (during bathing, sauna sessions)
• for gentle cleaning (grout, faucets), the fibers of this loofah can reach even hard-to-access places where a toothbrush wouldn't dare; we recommend combining it with Lemon Gel for limescale.

How to use:

• after each use, rinse the loofah thoroughly with clean hot water
• then let it dry
• store in a dry place (beware of high humidity, especially in bathrooms, as it may cause rot)
• regularly clean the loofah with hot water to prevent the growth of unwanted microorganisms
• with proper care, it will last for many months
• the fibers of the loofah gradually break down with use, and the remainder is easily compostable

What makes the Egyptian loofah special?

The Egyptian loofah has dense, flexible, fine, and porous fibers, making it ideal for skin and facial care (massages, peeling, sauna). Cheaper Asian loofahs are commonly available, but they do not have such sturdy fibers, are less water-resistant, and are not as pleasant to the touch.
