In 1988, a young Johannes Gutmann, equipped with the heritage of his father's old peasant trousers, wearing round red glasses on his face and a deep conviction in his soul about the necessity of organic farming for the health of people and the planet, went to market. Not with leather, but with organic herbs, teas and spices. He began offering these products at markets in and around his home village of Sprögnitz, Austria, where he distinguished himself by passing on the stories of the growers along with their fruits. Thus was born Sonnentor, a brand known for its sustainable and organic products. Sonnentor, whose logo with a smiling sun has been known for more than a quarter of a century, presents a wide range of heavenly fragrant herbs, teas and spice blends. The brand established itself in the Czech Republic in 1992, when Johannes and Tomáš Mitáček founded the Czech branch in South Moravia. Originally, Czech Sonnentor focused only on essential oils, but gradually expanded its offer to include organically grown herbs and today offers everything from tea blends to spices and other foods. All products are produced with a focus on sustainability and quality, made from organic ingredients, processed with care, packaged in innovative materials and with the aim of minimising waste and achieving 100% compostable packaging.
