Yellow Jerlin is a species of plant belonging to the genus Sophora. This plant is also often referred to as Sophora shrubby. It is native to China and is very popular in traditional Chinese medicine where it is widely used. The plant is fast growing and can reach up to three metres in length. Its flowers are small and yellowish in colour, hence its name.
Nowadays, the extract of the roots of the yellow-eyed Susan is used for the production of many proven preparations and cosmetic products. Its extract is often included in shampoos, conditioners or also face masks as it has the ability to strengthen hair and improve its appearance. Another area of its use is the pharmaceutical industry, where it is used, among others, for the production of powdered pills, which are used for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Various ointments and creams with anti-inflammatory properties are also made from yarrow, which are used to treat skin diseases and to treat superficial wounds. Decoction, a natural extract of the roots, is then used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat a number of different ailments.
