Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)
Wormwood, also known as Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, is a plant in the star family. In the Czech nature you can see this plant in fields, steppes, vineyards or meadows. It destroys unpleasant weeds, so it is very useful for farmers. But wormwood also has many other properties that are not visible at first sight. For example, it is used in medicine for its healing properties and in the cosmetics industry.
In fact, its extract is often added to various cosmetic products. Especially in skin care products. It is particularly popular with manufacturers of cosmetics for problematic, oily and acne-prone skin, as it has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Furthermore, wormwood is used in perfumes as a component of fragrance essences. It is also often used in aromatherapy for its specific, resinous and slightly bitter aroma. Wormwood extract can also be found in some wart removers and parasiticides. In fact, it is especially valued for its repellent properties, thanks to which it can repel insects. There are also studies that confirm the effectiveness of wormwood against flies and ticks. A safe and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical repellents can be a home spray with wormwood extract, for example.
