Woodfordia Fructicosa, better known in the Czech Republic as Dhataki, is a shrubby plant native to Asia, specifically from the regions of India, Nepal, China, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Dhataki is highly valued for its rich content of active ingredients and is used mainly in Ayurvedic medicine. It is considered a holy plant in India and is found mainly in Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala. The plant has red-orange flowers and oblong leaves, and either grows as a tree or as a shrub.
Dhataki is mainly used in medicinal and cosmetic products. Its flowers are rich in tannins, which have strong antibacterial and antioxidant properties. In Ayurvedic medicine, Dhataki is used in the treatment of various diseases and conditions including diarrhea, dysentery, eye diseases, bleeding, menstrual disorders and also as a blood purifier. In the pharmaceutical industry, Woodfordia Fructicosa is applied by making medicinal ointments, syrups and tablets. The cosmetic industry uses Dhataki for its anti-inflammatory and tonic properties. Dhataki flower extract is often added to creams, face masks and shampoos. It promotes skin regeneration and has anti-aging properties. In addition, Dhataki is also used in the production of certain types of alcohol and for the preparation of beverages such as tea.
