Symplocos Racemosa, also known as Lodhra, is a tree that has found its own place in Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine. This tree is considered one of the most important plants for the treatment of female reproductive disorders and problems. Since ancient times, this plant has been used for its immense health and medicinal benefits. Symplocos racemosa, which is botanically classified as a shrub or small tree, is endemic to Asia and is found abundantly in the Himalayas and its foothills, extending into central India.
Currently, Symplocos Racemosa is often used in the cosmetic industry. It is used to make natural hair care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair masks or oils. It is also used in the production of natural cosmetics as it has highly beneficial effects on the skin. Lodhra extracts are also often added to various face creams, cleansing lotions, tonics or face masks. Lodhra, however, also finds application in medicine, where it is mainly used to treat female reproductive disorders. This is due to the high tannin content present in the bark of the tree, which has astringent, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The bark is also used to make herbal teas that serve as adjunct therapies for certain health ailments.
