Spotted prophet's rue, also known as Arnebia thomsonii, Lithospermum guttatum or Macrotomia guttata, is a tall plant species belonging to the Buraginaceae family. This plant, native to the eastern Himalayas, is known for its small, yellow flowers that appear in late spring and early summer. The leaves of the Spotted Prophecy are alternate, sessile and densely hairy on both sides.
The spotted prophet's spurge is not only a beautiful ornamental plant, but is also used economically for its many benefits. Its roots contain a whitish mucilaginous substance that is used to make glue. Locals in the Himalayas use the fruit juice and flowers to make beverages and health products. In addition, the flowers of the spotted prophetess contain brown colouring pigments that are used for natural dyeing of textiles and furs. These substances also find application in the industrial production of cosmetics, where they are used as a non-toxic dye for cosmetic products. In addition, it is also used to produce various medicinal products for the treatment of skin and rheumatic disorders.
