Sodium methylparaben

Sodium methylparaben, also known as E219, Methylparahydroxybenzoate Sodium Salt, 4-Hydroxybenzoic Acid Methyl Ester Sodium Salt, Preserval MS, Sodium 4-(Methoxycarbonyl)phenoxide, Solparol, p-Hydroxybenzoic Acid Methyl Ester Sodium Salt is a chemical used as a preservative mainly in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. This substance has antimicrobial properties and serves to protect products from various bacteria, moulds or yeasts that could contaminate and spoil the products.

Sodium methylparaben is particularly popular because of its low toxicity and its broad action against various types of microorganisms.
