Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, often referred to as SLS or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, is one of the most widely used ingredients in cosmetics and household cleaning products. It is a chemical that is excellent at degreasing and produces a strong foam, giving the user a pleasant impression.
SLS is used in a wide range of products. It is most commonly found in shampoos, body shower gels, soaps and toothpastes. Its cleansing and foaming properties also make it a popular ingredient in washing powders, dishwashing detergents and various cleaning products. Despite its widespread use, however, sodium lauryl sulfate is the subject of frequent debate and controversy regarding its impact on health and the environment.
