Silk, also known as Silk or Serica, is a natural protein fibre whose magic has attracted and enthralled people for millennia. It's a product that is especially known for its fine luster and smooth surface. It is the product of the silkworm caterpillars, which originated in China, where silk was traditionally produced more than four millennia ago and gradually spread around the world as time passed. Because of its composition and structure, silk is considered one of the strongest natural materials.
Silk is widely used, especially in the fashion and textile industry, where it serves as a material for the production of the most luxurious garments such as evening dresses, wedding dresses, shirts and ties, as well as scarves, lingerie and pyjamas. Thanks to its soft and smooth surface, silk is very pleasant to the touch and comfortable to wear. Apart from the fashion industry, silk is also used in the manufacture of certain musical instruments, such as violin strings, or in medicine for sewing surgical stitches. Because of its luxurious appearance and soft surface, silk is also often used in home textiles to make luxurious bed linen, bedspreads, curtains or cushions.
