Due to its high price, this wood is mainly used in luxury furniture and carving. In Indian medicine, Ayurveda, it is used in medicinal mixtures and also in the form of fragrant resin oil.
In addition to the uses mentioned above, sandalwood is also used in the manufacture of musical instruments and various decorative items due to its specific colour and fine grain. Due to its strong and pleasant aroma, it is also used in many perfumes and cosmetic products. It is also used to make scented sticks, which are mainly used in Buddhist and Hindu temples. In India, sandalwood is considered sacred and is used in various religious ceremonies. However, due to its great popularity and frequent illegal felling, this tree species is now considered endangered.
