Rhus verniciflua
Harm score: 2 (Derivatives of natural substances)
Rhus verniciflua, also known as Walnut, Walnut or Walnut, is a tree native to Asia whose fruit is used in culinary and industrial applications. Its latter name may be inaccurate, as the name 'Walnut' or 'Walnut' is generally used for nut trees of the Juglans genus. On the contrary, Rhus verniciflua is mainly known in Korea and China, where its milky sap is used to make a traditional paint.
The form of Rhus verniciflua varnish is very special and beautiful, which is why it is often used in artistic crafts, probably most notably in varnish painting. However, the production of Rhus verniciflua varnishes is very laborious and the drying time is longer than that of synthetic varnishes, which is reflected in the higher price of these products. Rhus verniciflua wood is also used in the construction industry and for the manufacture of furniture. Besides, sap contains urushiol, a highly allergenic substance that can cause serious health problems. Although Rhus verniciflua is valued for its unique properties, it must be handled with care.
