Pink stonecrop, also known as golden root, pink root, or arctic root, is an herb that grows in the cool, mountainous regions of the northern hemisphere. This plant, which is also called hong jing tian, pink stonecrop, or by its scientific names Rhodiola rosea, Sedum rhodiola, Sedum rosea or Rhodiola roanensis, is popular in traditional medicine, especially in China, Mongolia and eastern Siberia, where it has been used for hundreds of years. Its root is heavy and has a soft, pink colour, hence some of its names.
Extracts of rosehip are used in many products, especially dietary supplements and herbal teas, to help improve physical and mental performance, boost immunity, help with stress and anxiety, or promote healthy sleep. In addition, it is also used in cosmetics. In extracts of rosehip we find, among other things, flavonoids, phenols, monoterpenes and triterpenes, which have been shown to have a positive effect on the human body. However, its use is still the subject of research, which confirms its many benefits, but also lists potential risks when used in excess.
