Quercetin

Quercetin belongs to the flavonoids, more specifically to the flavonols. It is a substance discovered as early as 1857, which is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, among other things. It is found in many fruits, vegetables and herbs and is characterised by its characteristic yellow colour. In addition to the name quercetin, this substance is also referred to as quercetin, 5,7,3′,4′-flavon-3-ol, quercitin or quertine.

Quercetin is often used as an ingredient in dietary supplements and sports nutrition supplements due to its antioxidant properties and ability to protect cells from damage. It is also often used in a number of immune support products due to its anti-inflammatory effects. Among foods, quercetin is found mainly in onions, apples, cherries, red wine, citrus fruits, dark chocolate, olive oil and some types of nuts and seeds. In the pharmaceutical industry, this substance is used in medicines and is also a component of cosmetic products, where it helps to protect the skin from oxidative stress.
