Quaternium-83

Quaternium-83, also known by the names imidazolium compounds, 4,5-dihydro-2-(hydrogenated nortallow alkyl)-1-[2-(hydrogenated tallow amido)ethyl]-1-methyl or Me sulfates, belongs to the group of quaternary ammonium salts. This name may be confusing, but the important point is that these substances are commonly used in cosmetic formulations. Quaternium-83 and similar compounds are popular for their antistatic and preservative effects.
