Potassium Oleate, also known in English as Potassium Oleate, Potassium 9-Octadecenoate or (Z)-octadec-9-enoate, is a chemical used in many industries for a variety of purposes. Its main characteristic is that it is the salt of a fatty acid, which can be found mainly in vegetable fats and oils. This substance takes the form of a solid body of white colour which is soluble in water and allows the formation of emulsifications.
Potassium Oleate is very widely used in industry. It is one of the main ingredients in soaps and various cleaning products where it helps to remove dirt and grease. In the pharmaceutical industry it is used as an emulsifier and moisturizing agent, while in the cosmetic industry it is used as a moisturizing agent and emulsifier in many creams and many other products. In addition, Potassium Oleate is also a component of many sun oils and suntan lotions, where it serves to bind better to the skin and not be scrubby. But its wide range of uses doesn't end with this list, potassium oleate is also a common ingredient in some motor fuel additives and is even used in the food industry as an emulsifier or stabilizer.
