Other names: Porphyridium purpureum

Porphyridium Cruentum, also known as Porphyridium purpureum, is a species of red algae that is used in the cosmetics industry, but also in pharmaceuticals and food processing. This algae is known for its unique properties that make it in demand in various sectors. Unfortunately, its collection and cultivation is often difficult and its occurrence in nature is rare. Porphyridium Cruentum is known for its resistance to adverse conditions, managing to survive in extreme temperatures and highly saline water.

In the cosmetic industry, Porphyridium Cruentum is used for its moisturizing and healing properties, making it ideal for moisturizing skin or hair and helping to heal minor skin injuries. Its high content of vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids provides a high nutritional value, which is why it is often included in dietary supplements. Also worth mentioning is its highly appreciated antimicrobial effect, which is used not only in cosmetics but also in the pharmaceutical industry. Porphyridium Cruentum is therefore a versatile organism with a wide range of uses that is increasingly the subject of scientific investigation and its potential is still being discovered.
