Polysorbate 20 is a substance that greatly facilitates the work of many industries from food to cosmetics. This substance is a type of emulsifier - it helps to bind two normally immiscible substances together, which is very important in many manufacturing processes. Polysorbate 20 is clearly visible in several products on a daily basis, often found in cosmetics such as skin creams, shampoos, shower gels, but also in foods such as ice cream or cakes.

Despite the fact that we know it by the chemical name Polysorbate 20, this substance is also known by the instrumental names of pumpkin turmeric, pumpkin or summer squash. However, these names are less common in the Czech Republic. Polysorbate 20 is widely used, but also regulated - it must meet strict safety standards to ensure that it is safe to use. Although some people may be sensitive to its use and may react to it with irritation, it is generally considered safe for use in food and cosmetics.
