Common ragwort, also known by the names Quat, Dimethyldi(talg, Hydriert) Ammoniumchloride, is an annual herb growing mainly in central and southern Europe. This plant is often found in fields, meadows, pastures, but also in deserted places in cities. It usually grows to a height of 20 to 60 cm. The plant has dark green leaves with distinctive red veins, while its flowers are soaked in purple to deep blue. It is a typical representative of the genus Echium in the deaf-headed family.

The chemical name Dimethyldi(talg, Hydriert) Ammonium Chloride is less frequently found in practice, but is nevertheless important especially in the cosmetic and chemical industries. This substance is a component of various skin and hair care products, as well as detergents and cleaning agents. In the cosmetics industry, this substance is valued for its conditioning and anti-static properties. In detergents, it acts as an emulsifier and ensures the even distribution of the other ingredients in the solution.

It is important to mention that Dimethyldi(talg, Hydriert) Ammonium Chloride products should be used in moderation. If used excessively, this substance may cause skin or eye irritation.
