The pineapple tree, or pineapple (Ananas comosus), is a genus of plants in the bromeliad family, native to the tropical regions of South America. It is also known by another scientific name, Ananas sativus. This fruit species is mainly used for its edible fruit. Most of the pineapples that are sold in world markets are grown in countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Brazil and the United States.
The pineapple fruit is very popular and tasty, with a wide variety of uses. It can be eaten raw and can be used in many different recipes.
