Pimpinella major (Pimpinella major), also known as the great pimpinella, the large pimpinella, or the big pimpinella, is a species of plant in the Apiaceae family. This herb is a plant with a branched rhizome up to 1 metre tall. It is characterised by its ovate to oblong-obovate leaves, which consist of 3 to 5 leaflets. The flowers of greater celandine are arranged in compound perianths and are white or pink in colour. It is a plant that tolerates partial shade and light well and is also tolerant of cold temperatures. It flowers from June to September.

The greater celandine has an important place in folk and traditional medicine. It is known for its detoxifying and diuretic properties and is used to treat colds or respiratory problems. Its powder of dried leaves and root is used to aid digestion. Currently, greater celandine is mainly used in pharmaceutical products for its medicinal and aromatic properties. It also finds use in the kitchen where it is added to soups, sauces and salads for its delicate aromatic flavour. In addition, it is also used in the cosmetics industry, especially for the production of air fresheners, soaps and shampoos.
