Orobinec, also known as doutníky, cigára, palaší, šáší or pálka, is a perennial plant that grows in stagnant or slow-moving waters around the world. The genus Typha belongs to the family Typhaceae and its unique appearance makes it hard to confuse. There are two species of broad-leaved honeysuckle that can be seen in the country - the broad-leaved honeysuckle and the narrow-leaved honeysuckle.
Orobinec is widely recognized for its ecological values in water purification as it absorbs pollutants and is therefore planted in wetland water treatment plants. However, its use is much wider. The young shoots of orobince can be eaten, and when cooked have a taste similar to corn. The roots are rich in starch and are also used in cooking. The flower stamens of the orobium (hence the name bat, palash) are used to make flower arrangements. Industrially, oroblasts are used to produce, for example, bioethanol, bio-oil, biogas and other bio-products. Traditionally, the stems are used to make roofing felt. Crushed stems and leaves can be used as insulation. Hence, bramble is an ecological source of raw materials in many areas of our lives.
