Perfuming is an essential part of many different types of products. Its main function is to give the product a pleasant smell or taste that is attractive to the consumer and thus increases the demand and marketability of the product. Other names for this term may be fragrance, aroma, fragrance or flavour. Fragrance also creates a strong psychological link between the customer and the product, as the human brain has the ability to associate certain memories with specific scents.
Perfuming, or otherwise also fragrance, aroma or flavour, finds its application in a wide range of products. It is not just traditional perfumes and deodorants that these words might first be associated with. Perfuming is used in many other industries and namely in the cosmetics industry where it is a component of body lotions, creams, shampoos, shower gels and other body products. In the pharmaceutical industry it is used in various pharmaceuticals and in the food industry it is used in food and beverages to enhance their taste and aroma. In many cases, perfuming is also used in cleaning and laundry products to remove unpleasant odours and replace them with fresh and pleasant scents. Few people would want their laundry, room or hands to smell chemically. Without the presence of perfume, most products would look dull and impersonal. Its presence increases the attractiveness of the product and makes it more appealing to the end consumer.
