Panthenyl Triacetate

Panthenyl Triacetate, also known by the more complex name 4-[(3-Acetoxypropyl)amino]-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxobutane-1,3-diyl diacetate, is a synthetic substance that is often used in cosmetics as an emollient and moisturizing ingredient. It is a derivative of vitamin B5, specifically its ester, which is able to convert back to the original, active form of the vitamin in the body. As a result, it can convey the beneficial effects of vitamin B5 directly to the skin.

Panthenyl Triacetate is typically used in skin and hair care products. In many cases, it is included in the formulation of creams, face masks, shampoos, conditioners, oils and serums. Its presence increases hydration of skin and hair, improves the appearance of dry and damaged skin and hair, and allows for easier detangling.
