Orange Schisandra (Schisandra sphenanthera)

Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)

Orange creeper, also known as amylum or starch, is a woody liana in the creeper family (Schisandraceae). It grows up to 8 metres tall and is distinguished by its white to orange flowers, which produce red, edible berries. This species of clanoprache is native to China, where it is widely used for its medicinal properties in traditional Chinese medicine. It also has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, among others.

Amylum, i.e. orange clover, is processed into a number of products. It is mainly used in the food industry as a source of starch. The starch from the amylum is used as a thickening agent in various dishes such as sauces and soups. Due to its medicinal properties, orange clover is also used in the pharmaceutical industry. It is a component of many dietary supplements and medicines designed, for example, to boost immunity, improve digestion or as an aid in the treatment of various ailments. Another use is in the cosmetics industry, where orange clover extract is used for its moisturising and regenerative properties, and it is also often found in face masks and creams.
