Oman right with the Latin name Inula helenium and other synonyms such as Aster helenium, Corvisartia helenium is also known by folk names such as alant, horse's eye, omanek, enula. This herb belongs to the Asteraceae family and is characterized by its yellow flowers, which have a distinctive sweet and spicy smell. The plant is also known for its great height, which can reach up to two metres, and for its medicinal properties.
It is an herb that is widely used in the herbal and pharmaceutical industries. The main component of omano is the root, which is harvested in autumn and after drying is extracted. It is further used in the production of medicinal products, for example to aid digestion, for its anti-inflammatory effects or as an anti-parasitic agent. Oman is also used in aromatherapy - it is part of essential oils used in inhalation or massage oils. A liqueur known as Enulovka is also made from the root of omanum.
