Niaouli, scientifically known as Melaleuca quinquenervia b.s. viridiflorol, is a tree native to Australia that is also referred to as Sweet flag. It is a robust and hardy tree that can reach heights of up to 25 metres. It is characterized by its broad, papery, pinkish to brown leaves. The flowers are white and occur in clusters. They grow at the end of the rhizomes and its leaves are feathery with five veins, hence its generic name 'quinquenervia'.
