The Musk Rose (Rosa mosqueta), also known as the Rose of Chile or Rosehip, is a species of plant in the rose family that is native to the southern half of the Andes in Chile. It is a heavily branched, sharply spiked, shrubby rose that can reach up to three metres in height. It is characterised by its small, deep pink flowers, which later develop into oval-shaped fruits called rose hips. This plant is extremely hardy, able to withstand very low temperatures and dry conditions.
The rose geranium is a sought-after plant, especially in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Its fruits, rose hips, are a rich source of vitamin C, B vitamins, carotenoids and minerals. In medicine, they are mainly used in the prevention of colds and to strengthen the immune system. Musk rose also extracts a valuable oil that is widely used in cosmetics for its regenerative and healing effects. Musk rose oil helps in healing scars, has anti-inflammatory effects and has anti-aging properties. It also contains essential fatty acids that give it its supple and moisturizing properties. It is thus used in a wide range of products - from creams, to serums, to body lotions and shampoos. Not only for its effectiveness, but also for its subtle but refreshing scent.
