The monniella jarva, also known as She Chuang Zi, Sweet flag, Chinese rhubarb, or Knidium, is a medicinal plant native to China that is used mainly in traditional Chinese medicine. It belongs to the myrrh family (Apiaceae). It is considered an effective natural remedy for a number of diseases and health problems. The plant can be recognised by the small white or pink flowers that grow in a rounded inflorescence. The monniella jarva prefers moist habitats and in China it grows mainly in natural meadows and pastures at altitudes between 1,200 and 4,000 metres.
The uses of the Monnier Jarva are wide-ranging. Its fruits are used as medicinal herbs in traditional Chinese medicine, where they are mainly used to treat skin diseases and as an aphrodisiac. The plant is also used to extract essential oil, which is used in aromatherapy. In our country, Jarva monnierova is mainly used as an ornamental plant with medicinal properties. It can also be a component of some tea blends, or tinctures and ointments are made from it. As it is a strong plant with a high content of active substances, it is necessary to follow the prescribed dosage and use it with caution.
