Methylpropanediol, also known as 2-Methyl-1,3-propanediol, is an organic compound that is characterized by its chemical stability. Methylpropanediol is a colourless liquid with a difficult-to-identify odour that, in addition to its dissolving ability, also enhances the moisturising effects of certain products such as creams or make-up.

Among other things, it is used in make-up, nail polish, face and body creams, shampoos, sunscreens and in lasers for hair removal. In all of these cases, the substance remains chemically stable and contributes to enhancing the effect of the other ingredients. Outside the cosmetics industry, it is also used in the production of resins and plastics such as polyurethane. In the pharmaceutical industry it is used as a humectant and solvent ubiquitous in many pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements.
