Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)
The kiwi, also known as Chinese gooseberry, Zespri, monkey peach, or blackberry, is a popular fruit native to Central Asia. It is harvested in the autumn and is particularly popular for its unique taste and health benefits. Different in appearance from other fruits, it has a brown skin covered with hairs that can sometimes be rough to the touch. Inside is a light green, soft and juicy fruit containing a number of small, black, edible seeds.
Kiwifruit is often eaten on its own, but is also used in a wide variety of products. These include jams, juices, yoghurt, salads, cakes and many other dishes. Some people also appreciate this exotic ingredient in cocktails. Kiwifruit is also a popular ingredient in some healthy cool drinks such as smoothies and detox drinks, where it can be combined with a variety of other fruit types. The high vitamin C content of kiwi makes it suitable as a dietary supplement to boost immunity. Although kiwifruit is very healthy, some people may have an allergic reaction to certain components of this fruit and should therefore be careful when consuming it.
