Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)
Histidine, also known as His or L-Histidine, is one of the alpha-amino acids involved in the production of proteins whose unique complex structures used in biochemical processes are the basic building blocks of every living cell. Histidine is essential for the growth and repair of tissues and also for the production of red and white blood cells, which are very important for human health.
L-Histidine is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. It finds application, for example, as an ingredient in drugs intended to treat rheumatoid arthritis, allergic diseases, ulcers or even certain types of sexual dysfunction. In addition, it is also a component of certain types of dietary supplements and sports nutrition. Nutritionists often recommend additional intake of histidine to people with a deficiency of this amino acid, which can be caused, for example, by a low-protein diet. In the cosmetics industry, histidine is used to produce skin care products such as creams, face masks or shampoos.
