Other names: Himalayan salt
Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)
Himalayan salt, also known as pink salt, is a type of mineral salt mined in the mountainous region of Pakistan near the Himalayas. Its crystalline structure is not only aesthetically beautiful, but also makes it a unique and desirable raw material. Its distinctive pink hue is due to the iron and other minerals and trace elements that are part of its composition. In total, high-Malay salt contains more than 80 mineral elements.
Himalayan salt is used in a wide range of products. It can be found not only in the food industry as a luxury seasoning or presentation utensil (salt for salt), but also in cosmetics. It is part of various scrubs, masks and bath salts, where its composition has a detoxifying and regenerating effect. In recent years, it has also gained popularity in the form of salt lamps and other decorative accessories designed to bring positive energy into the interior. Another use of Himalayan salt is in halotherapy, i.e. salt therapy, where its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties are used. Himalayan salt has thus become a unique raw material that is used not only to flavour food but also to promote health and well-being.
