Other names: Hexylcinnamal, Hexyl Cinnamaldehyde
Harm score: 3 (Harmless chemicals)
Hexyl cinnamal, also known as hexylcinnamal or hexyl cinnamaldehyde, is one of the frequently used ingredients in perfumery and cosmetics. It is an organic chemical compound that has a typical jasmine scent and is therefore popular in the creation of perfumes, deodorants or body lotions. Hexyl cinnamal acts as a fixative, which means that it prolongs the duration of the fragrance on the skin.
Hexyl cinnamal is also often present in hair products such as shampoos, conditioners, but also styling products such as hairsprays or mousses. It can also be found in soaps, shower gels, body cleansers and some household products such as candles and air fresheners. Although this substance is generally considered safe, some people may develop an allergic reaction to it. It is therefore important to always check the ingredients of products carefully, especially if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions.
