The sand spruce, also known as the perpetual dwarf or strawflower, is a plant of the star family. It is characterised by its globular, yellow flowers and is widespread throughout Europe, including the Czech Republic. Since the sand smelt has a high content of flavonoids, phenolic acids and other active substances, it is widely used in medicine. Tinctures, teas and oils are produced from sand smelts, which have beneficial effects on the liver, gallbladder and kidneys.
Not only in medicine, but also in cosmetics, sand smelt is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient. Its extract is included in various creams and serums used for skin care. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties make it effective for problematic and acne-prone skin. In addition, it can promote cell renewal and contribute to skin elasticity. In the form of an essential oil, it is used not only for massages but also for aroma lamps to promote relaxation and soothing. The sand spruce is therefore a truly versatile plant that finds application in many areas and products.
