Eucalyptus radiata, known in English as Blagovičný radiata, is a tree native to Australia, specifically parts of New South Wales and Victoria. This plant, with its fast-growing canes and spreading branches, can reach heights of up to 50 metres. It is one of approximately 800 species of blackthorn that grow all over the world, but especially in warm regions. The glow-weed is easily recognisable by its narrow, long leaves, which are characterised by their stepped arrangement and strong eucalyptus aroma.
The products of the Eucalyptus aureus, especially its essential oil, are widely used in aromatherapy and cosmetics. It has strong antibacterial and antiviral properties, thus supporting the immune system and helping with colds and flu. It is therefore a common ingredient in cold medicines, ointments and inhalers. Another area where this oil is used is in skin care. For example, it helps with acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The essential oil of Elderflower is also used as an insecticide, as its strong smell repels insects. It is also included in some household products such as cleaning products or air fresheners.
