Ethyl acetate is used in many industries. It is mostly found in the cosmetics industry where it is used as a solvent component, especially in nail polish where it serves to dissolve other components. It also has a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical industry, where it is used as an extracting agent in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, in the food industry as an additive in beverages for fruit flavour and in perfumery, where it is used to extract essences from plants. Ethyl acetate is also a component of some printing inks, adhesives and thinners.
