Coptis root powder is included in some cosmetic products, mainly because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. In cosmetics, it is therefore often found in products intended for oily and problematic skin. Chinese coptis is also used as a component of toothpastes and mouthwashes, as it can effectively kill bacteria in the oral cavity.
