The orange tree grows in subtropical and tropical regions where it can reach heights of up to 10 metres. Its sweet taste and fresh aroma make it not only a delicious fruit but also a useful plant with many uses.
Oranges are not only a tasty and healthy fruit rich in vitamin C, but also a valuable raw material in the food industry, cosmetics and traditional medicine. Thanks to their distinctive and fresh taste and aroma, oranges are considered one of the best ingredients in fruit juices, jams, marmalades, ice creams and confectionery. But the uses of the Chinese orange tree go back much further. Both orange juice and orange peel are key ingredients in liqueurs such as Cointreau and Grand Marnier. Pressed orange juice is the main primary product of oranges, but they are also made into orange juice, nectar, concentrate and other various beverages. The confectionery industry uses oranges, especially their peel, to make candied fruit, candies, jellies and other sweets. Orange peel oil is used in perfumes and aromatherapy for its soothing and stimulating properties. In addition, oranges are also used in traditional medicine, for example to treat colds or to boost immunity.
