Chinese dill (Ligusticum sinense), also known as Gao ben, Ligusticum chuangxiong, or Chinese chervil, is an herb native to East Asia. It grows mainly in northern and central China. Its stems grow up to 120 cm tall and are topped with creamy white flowers.
It is an important herb in traditional Chinese medicine as it has a number of medicinal effects. It is known for its strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Its main part is the roots from which the extract is made. This extract is used in herbal teas and preparations in the treatment of headaches, migraines, menstrual disorders, abdominal pain and for various types of inflammation.
