Capsicum Frutescens, also known as Capsicum Frutescens or Capsicum Frutescens Resin, is one of the better known species of chilli plants. Its genus traces its roots to the warm regions of Central and South America. It was cultivated by the ancient Aztecs and Mayans. This variety is particularly popular for its intense nutty flavour and strong hotness, which reaches up to 80 000 Scoville units. It is still very popular in traditional Latin American and Asian cuisine.
The products in which hot peppers are used are varied. Its fruits, when dried, are ground into chilli seasoning, which is then used as a base for various types of sauces, marinades, curry preparations or barbecue seasonings. Another very popular product is tabasco sauce, which is made from the bush pepper. In addition, this variety is also used in cosmetics, for example in some creams for cellulite or ointments for rheumatism, always thanks to its blood-cleansing and warming effect. Paprika is also used to make various medicinal ointments and oils.
